This illustration shows my imagined version of the creation of the dwarves in Tolkiens legendarium. Bacause Aulë is a smith by nature and a master in craftsmanship, I thought it to be fitting if he took the appearance of folded steel, as I think, that's probably something a deity obsessed with creating stone and steel work could identify with, and at that point in time, the Valar didn't actually know what human form would really look like, as Eru kept his creation in secret. Since this is happening at the dawn of creation of Arda, his hammer is pure raw rock with a shaft made of massive wood and a shining smaller stone at the end of the shaft. No overly fancy styled items yet in this world. The dwarves are created out of "fire and rock" (amazon series quote), which is depicted at the center of the illustration, as a freshly created dwarf is just freed from the steel block. Another one can be seen crawling out of the lava stream, assisted by a fellow dwarf, while another one (taking the viewers place) is looking in awe at the scenery.
