"Joe Mazurewicz—the prayers against the Crawling Chaos now turning to an inexplicably triumphant shriek—worlds of sardonic actuality impinging on vortices of febrile dream—Iä! SHUB-NIGGURATH! The Goat with a Thousand Young. . . ." 13th in my Lovecraft series, the All-Mother, black goat of the woods, guarding the spheres between the shards of vanished universes and the higher non comprehensible planes of existence.
In my interpretation, Shub-Niggurath serves as a cosmic power that gives birth to new cosmic entities ("a thousand young") that we would describe as "universes", although these creations might differ completely from how we understand this term. In return she feeds on the "dead universes" that can be seen forming swirls beneath her. To the top right from the center a dimensonal mass descents from the surface, which is the plane of Yog Sothoth. This mass will eventually become an additional Shub-Niggurath (I understand all of them as one entity though).
