As someone who is genuinely concerned where we're heading as a species and the way we treat the planet, I wanted to display Kong and Godzilla in a very non benevolent manner towards humanity. As titans they represent natural occuring phenomenons and disasters, that occur more frequently the longer we continue our way of exploitation, over consumption and population, war, waste and anything else we do out of self convenience and greed. By looking close at the bottom section, the viewer can observe, from left to right, melted ice blocks engulfed by a large wave, an oil rig on fire, a cattle transport ship, a hill of textile trash and to its right an electronic waste pile, a human figure kneeling before a tree stump that has a wrecked excavator laying next to it, followed by an endless field of war gear wrecks and a collapsed oil fracking pump.
In the background, the wolves Sköll and Hati can be seen, cast as shadows trough Kong and Godzilla to the horizon, who are said to eat the moon and the sun as a sign of upcoming Ragnarök.
In this painting, Kong takes the mythological role of the norse giant Hrym, who will set course towards Ragnarok with his ship Naglfar (depending on the source, Loki is also mentioned as the captain of said ship). Godzilla takes the role of Surtr, the fire giant and ruler of Muspelheim, who will engulf the entire world in flames. Out of the ashes of the old world a new one will eventually emerge.
