Back in 2021 I felt a strong desire to depict a version of Godzilla that resembles his apocalyptuc nature, as he was originally intended to. As a force of nature, this illustration depicts several natural desasters such as volcanic erruption, floodwaves, tornados, lightning and even shards of meteorids, all surrounding the king of the monsters himself.
At Godzillas feet several debris of manmade structures can be observed being washed away by the floodwave. These are not coinicidental, for they are parts of buildings that represent governments who are in posession of nuclear arms.
The color pallette for this painting was taken straight out of Ivan Aivazowsky's The Wrath of the Sea.
